Mechanic just called and said a new BCM for a '96 Intrepid is $450! Does anyone know if this is a junkyard item? If so, how do your pull it out?

Re: Body Control Module Switch
I wouldn't advise doing that b/c you don't know what options came out of that module i.e., you could have manual HVAC control, the new module could be designed to take auto temp controls. Plus when a new module is installed, it must be reprogrammed to recognize your car. In essence, it's best to spend the extra money to do it right so that you don't create a hassle or problem for you in the future.
