99 CRV timing belt --interference engine?
Can someone tell me if the 99 CRV has an interference type engine? The first timing belt went about 100k miles with no problems and I am tempted to push it to that level again if this is a non-interference type engine. Of course if the valves can come into contact with pistons when the belt breaks, I would probably change it before then as to avoid this risk. Thanks for all replies. Seems like the recommended 60k mile change is overkill and a huge moneymaker for dealers.

Re: 99 CRV timing belt --interference engine?
FWIW, my 1999 Owners Manual states that the timing belt should be changed at 60k miles only if the car is regularly driven in either extreme hot or cold temperatures. The schedule for typical conditions states changing the belt at 105k miles.
