Question 2000 626 Keyless Entry System install?

I have a 2000 626 with electric door locks, but the dealer's search of the VIN indicates that there is no remote keyless entry system on the car. Is it possible to install a 3rd party keyless entry system if I am a fairly decent backyard mechanic and electician? Also, any recommendations as to brands and models (or sources) of a 3rd party system would be greatly appreciated. Also, anyone out there ever attempt this kind of project before? Thanks for any and all "comebacks."

Yes. The drivers side door lock works all the door locks. The passenger side doesn't have the electric locking feature.

Re: 2000 626 Keyless Entry System install?

Thanks for the tip. I looked at the Web site, and found a couple of dealers that carry BOA products right in my home town. Have you installed any of these products yourself? Thanks again.

yes i installed a boa 265b remote start keyless entry in a 94 mazda 626. i had to add an actuator in the drivers door,[not to difficult]and the rest was not to bad either.you will get a card with the system that you can call dei boa they will tell you what you will need also the site has some info on wiring diagram. it took me about 5 hours total.i would try to get one off ebay ,look for new one. i got mine for 35.00 shipped. if you are just looking for keyless entry i think its a 165b. if you decide to go for it l and need some questions answered i would be glad to help you if i can. just send pm

If you want DIY kits, look into their Rattler series or even Valet. They are a little better than BOA. BOA has been discontinued. The thing I do not like is the fact that you have to relearn the remotes if you lose power to your car.

Re: 2000 626 Keyless Entry System install?

Thanks, Guys. I will look into ebay and the other units. I appreciate the info, Softball, and if I need any help, I'll try contacting you. Also, Ponchonutty, I did notice that I couldn't find BOA, but saw the ones you mentioned. Now, if it ever warms up here in MI, and the snow melts, I can get to work without too much disconfort.
