power window/lock conversion

does anyone know if the s10 pickup harness has the connectors for power windows/locks and cruise control even though the truck doesnt have these options? i want to add these options but i dont want to have to install a wire harness from another truck with these options. any help would be appreciated.

Re: power window/lock conversion

it should, its cheaper in the factory to do all the trucks the same (running wires) than saying run wires in the next 50 trucks then don't run them in 50. It might depend on the year, but i doubt it. (I'm sure i'll be corrected if so) The only difference, obviously, is installing the parts motors.

From what I remember they don't have the wires in there....Like others have said, I'm not 100% sure... The easiest way to find out is to simply pull the door panel (about a 5 minute job) and look inside the door... If you don't see the harness plugs you hvae your answer.

From what I remember also, the wires are not there for power doors and locks. I have a bone stock '94 2.2 and the only wires I think going to the door are for the speakers. A very easy way to check that I can think of is to pull back the rubber peice that connects the cab to the door that houses the wires. The only way that this would not work is if they did not run the power wires all the way into the door, in which case, my suggestion would not work.

Re: power window/lock conversion

There not wired up for it. that would have been great if they did that. i imagine it wouldn't be too hard to wire it up though. Go 2 a junk yard and get the arm rest piece w/ the switches, motors. and all that crap. or there are A TON OF AFTERMARKET solutions out there. i was thinking about doing that myself.

Re: Re: power window/lock conversion

I have an 87 S10 and have started the PW PL conversion, I got the wiring harness, switches, power window and power door lock motors, from an sonoma at the junkers.
The fuse box has all the connectors, you just need a 30 amp fuse for the windows.
I have to remove the doors and drill holes in the doors and body to run the wiring through for the windows and locks but its fun!
Will keep you posted on my progress.

Re: power window/lock conversion

Yeah, the wiring isn't there. I install power locks and windows for dealers. Trust me, if there was a shortcut, I'd take it but there isn't.

Re: Re: power window/lock conversion

My 87 fuse block had all the connectors needed to hook up the windows and door locks.... I also looked at an 82 at the wreckers and it had all the connections as well, so you should be alright
