heavy duty alternator
I know many say you should only use new OEM alternators, but Im curious as to if a high output alternator would work or not? I have a pretty big stereo system and I know that's draining on my system. I'm also putting in a lot of extra lights. Anyways I think my alternator is going bad so I figured I could put in the heavy duty.
Also I went to play in the mud ysterday. 24 hours later, my battery is dead. Does anyone think the two have any correlation? |

Get a standard Bosch alternator for your year/engine size; followed with an Interstate Battery with at least 750 CCA.
This set up has been the best I've had in all the 8yrs of owning this truck; and I'm notorious for leaving my stereo system on to listen to when I'm working on the truck or in the yard. I can do this for several hours now, and the truck still fires right up without hesitation.

Re: heavy duty alternator
Just got the Optima Battery and its working so far. I at first thought the charging system was the problem becuase the battery was just put in back in October.
