I just got my Camry and the owner has lost the keyless remotes and he said on the remote was a good security system? Does anyone know any info about this, and where I can get a remote?
Thank You

Probably the dealer if it was from the factory. Personally I wouldn't have bought the car without the remotes. But it will get annoying to hurry to get the alarm before it goes off when opening with the keys. I'd shut the alarm off for the time being. I shut mine off because it started going off randomly and got annoying having the cops drag you out of bed to shut it off.

Hold on!!!!!
I had the same thing. When I bought my 97 camry the remote was lost. I bought a new one over ebay for 25.00 with the istructions on how to program it. I wouldhighly recomend doing this cause the dealer will charge over 100.00 for you to buy and program when it only takes 2 minutes to do it. you need the remote with a FCC ID#GQ43VT14T here is a sight that is selling it for cheap. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW
All that you have to do is push a green button on the side of the "brain" which is located under the driver's seat. hold that down untill the security light by the steering wheel starts to blink then push the remote button in front of the blinking light and then your remote is programmed. Hope that I was of help. |

to tell if the alarm is factory just look under the driver seat and if you see a little black or grey box that has a small button on the side (the "brain") then you have a factory alarm. also to double check me just look for the FCC ID# on the "brain" it should match the one that I said earlier in the thread. |

yes, my car has a factory alarm, that is pretty cool how the alarm works. I will order the keyless entries, thank you!

Re: keyless remote/security 99 Camry
I also have a 97 camry with a factory installed alarm. I purchased a remote off of ebay with the same FCC ID as the current one I have. I attempted to program it with the instructions above with no luck. The only thing I thought was odd is that FCC ID on the black box underneath the driver's seat doesn't match my new remote, but like I said before the FCC ID is the same for both the new remote and old remote. Any ideas anyone?

Re: keyless remote/security 99 Camry
I have collected some information on the topic. The compilation is below.
If you do not find it useful try to do search. If you are still unsuccessful try to search www.toyotanation.com Sam PROGRAMMING ADDITIONAL or REPLACEMENT TRANSMITTERS Each SECURIKEY+ system can be operated by up to four (4) different SECURIKEY+ transmitters. The system is supplied from the factory with two (2) transmitters included, and additional transmitters are available through parts distribution. Any new or replacement transmitters will need to be programmed to the main control module before they will activate the system. The SECURIKEY+ main control module uses a six (6) channel radio frequency receiver; each channel controlling a different function of the SECURIKEY+ system. Each transmitter button can be programmed to only one of the receiver channels (e.g., the GREEN button cannot be programmed to operate the headlight feature and remote start option; it can operate only one or the other feature). The following is a list of each receiver channel, and the function of each channel. CHANNEL # FEATURE CONTROLLED BY THIS CHANNEL 1 Lock 2 Unlock 3 Trunk Release (optional kit required; not available on all models) 4 30 second headlight activation (only if required by GREEN button) 5 Remote panic (only if required by GREEN button instead of LOCK button) 6 Remote start (optional kit required; not available on all models) To program new or additional transmitters, or when adding options to existing SECURIKEY+ transmitters, follow the step by step programming instructions found below. When programming, it is important to complete each step of the procedure within 15 seconds, or the system will terminate the programming mode. If this happens, simply start again. Be sure that the SECURIKEY+ system is disarmed, and the lighted valet switch is in the off (out) position before you begin. Turn the vehicle's ignition key to the on position. Press then release the L.E.D. valet switch 6 times. CHANNEL 1: LOCK & Panic Feature Horn Chirps 1 Time L.E.D. Flashes 1 Time To program the LOCK button on the transmitter, press and hold the LOCK button until the vehicle's horn sounds one loud chirp. Repeat this for all transmitters that need the LOCK button programmed (up to four transmitters). After the LOCK button on all transmitters have been programmed, press and release the L.E.D. valet switch 2 times to advance to the next receiver channel. CHANNEL 2: UNLOCK Feature Horn Chirps 2 Times L.E.D. Flashes 2 Times To program the UNLOCK button on the transmitter, press and hold the UNLOCK button until the vehicle's horn sounds one loud chirp. Repeat this for all transmitters that need the UNLOCK button programmed (up to four transmitters). After the UNLOCK button on all transmitters have been programmed, press and release the L.E.D. valet switch 2 times to advance to the next receiver channel. CHANNEL 3: TRUNK RELEASE Option Horn Chirps 3 Times L.E.D. Flashes 3 Times To program the TRUNK RELEASE option on the transmitter, press and hold the GREEN option button until the vehicle's horn sounds one loud chirp. Repeat this for all transmitters that need the GREEN option button programmed (up to four transmitters). After the TRUNK RELEASE button on all transmitters have been programmed, press and release the L.E.D. valet switch 2 times to advance to the next receiver channel. CHANNEL 4: 30 SECOND HEADLIGHT Feature Horn Chirps 4 Times L.E.D. Flashes 4 Times To program the HEADLIGHT option on the transmitter, press and hold the GREEN option button until the vehicle's horn sounds one loud chirp. Repeat this for all transmitters that need the GREEN option button programmed (up to four transmitters). After the HEADLIGHT button on all transmitters have been programmed, press and release the L.E.D. valet switch 2 times to advance to the next receiver channel. CHANNEL 5: Separate PANIC Button Feature Horn Chirps 5 Times L.E.D. Flashes 5 Times To program the PANIC option on the transmitter, press and hold the GREEN option button until the vehicle's horn sounds one loud chirp. Repeat this for all transmitters that need the GREEN option button programmed (up to four transmitters). After the PANIC button on all transmitters have been programmed, press and release the L.E.D. valet switch 2 times to advance to the next receiver channel. CHANNEL 6: REMOTE START Feature Horn Chirps 6 Times L.E.D. Flashes 6 Times To program the REMOTE START option on the transmitter, press and hold the GREEN option button until the vehicle's horn sounds one loud chirp. Repeat this for all transmitters that need the GREEN option button programmed (up to four transmitters). After the REMOTE START button on all transmitters have been programmed, press and release the L.E.D. valet switch 2 times to advance to terminate programming mode, or simply turn the ignition key to the off position to terminate the transmitter programming mode. PROGRAMMING THE SELECTABLE FEATURES The SECURIKEY+ system offers a number of selectable features that can be changed, allowing you to custom fit the system to your customer. I've called up Gulf State Toyota Online Technical Service and they helped me out. To erase keyless remote you can do it separately. So you do not need to clear every remote from the main module you can do it individually. Method: Go to program mode: ignition key on, push red switch 6 times (3 in and out cycle) 1 short beep. Push and hold lock and green bottom simultaneously, long beep. Do it 4 times...... you deleted the lock key from main module push red switch twice (one in and out cycle) 2 short beeps. Push and hold unlock and green bottom simultaneously, long beep. Do it 4 times...... you deleted the unlock key from main module push red switch twice (one in and out cycle) 3 short beeps. Push and hold lock and unlock bottom simultaneously, long beep. Do it 4 times...... you deleted the green key from main module Turn the ignition key off ... Exiting program mode. Long beep and a short one. Go to program mode: ignition key on, push red switch 6 times (3 in and out cycle) 1 short beep. Reprogram your remote as written in the manual: 1. Push red switch twice (one in and out cycle) 3 short beeps. 5. Push green key .. long beep means the module accepted it 6. Turn the ignition key off... exiting program mode.. long and a short beep. Now you can try to push lock key... it should work fine. I hope I can help other people by this! By the way the people of the Gulf Toyota Dealership are very friendly and helpfully. They will help anybody out for sure! Remote programming If a Camary is the same as a Camry - this is the procedure for the 2002-2005 models: 1. Start with the following conditions: You are in the drivers seat. a. Key is out of the ignition b. Driver door is open (all other doors closed) c. Driver door is unlocked (other doors don't matter) 2. Insert and remove the key from the ignition twice within 5 seconds. 3. Close and open the drivers door twice within 40 seconds. 4. Insert the key into the ignition and remove it. 5. Close and open the drivers door twice within 40 seconds. 6. Insert the key into the ignition. 7. Close the door 8. Turn the key in the ignition on and then off. 9. Remove the key from the ignition. 10. The power locks should automatically cycle once to indicate that you have successfully entered program mode. 11. Within 40 seconds of the entering program mode. a. press both transmitter lock and unlock buttons SIMULTANEOUSLY for a duration of from 1 to 1.5 seconds. b. within 3 seconds, press the transmitter lock button for more than 1 second and release. c. If the transmitter has been sucessfully programmed, the power locks will automatically cycle once. If they cycle twice, the remote has not been accepted. d. If multiple remotes are to be programmed, repeat steps A-C. 12. Open the driver's door. Program Remote for 2002 Camry (and perhaps other Toyotas with same remote) 1. Start with the key out of the ignition, driver door open and unlocked 2. Insert the key and take it out - twice within 5 seconds 3. Close and open the driver door - twice within 40 seconds 4. Jump out and run around the car once as fast as you can (optional) 5. Insert the key and take it out – once 6. Close and open the driver door - twice within 40 seconds 7. Insert the key and close the driver door 8. Turn the ignition to “On” hold it for 1 second, turn to “Off” (for “Add” mode) 9. Remove the key 10. Hold down both “Lock” and “Unlock” at the same time for one second 11. Press “Lock” within 3 seconds. (If the signal was recognized the locks will cycle once, if not they will cycle twice.) You can program a maximum of 4 remotes. Do a fifth and you’ll loose the first. To see how many are programmed: on step 7 switch between on and off (holding 1 sec in each position) 3 times. The locks will cycle once for each remote that is programmed. To erase all programmed remotes: on step 7 switch between on and off (holding 1 sec in each position) 2 times. (Say if you are replacing a lost or stolen remote) To erase all programmed remotes and disable the remote key entry system all together: on step 7 switch between on and off (holding 1 sec in each position) 5 times. Procedure for GQ43VT7T remotes: 1) With the key OUT of the ignition switch, locate and disconnect the power mirror control switch from the vehicle harness.(with tiny screwdiver you are able to take out the mirror switch control panel) 2) Use a suitable jumper wire (paper clip works), and connect terminal 2 (Purple wire) to terminal 10 (White/Black wire). The vehicle will cycle the locks once to confirm programming mode. 3) Press and release any button on the remote. The vehicle will cycle the locks once to confirm code received. 4) Program additional remotes by repeating step 3 5) Disconnect the jumper to exit programming mode. 6) Reconnect and reinstall the mirror switch Here is a way for programming a remote for a 2000 Avalon. This method should work for 2001 Avalon also. Key out Driver door open and unlocked Insert key into ignition and pull out Lock then unlock the power locks from the master switch 5 times Close and then open the driver's door Lock then unlock the power locks from the master switch 5 times Insert the key into the ignition and turn to ON then OFF, then remove key Locks should cycle - If they don't repeat Press both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the remote simultaneously for 1 second Immediately after letting go of the two buttons, press the LOCK button for 2 seconds The locks should then cycle once. If they cycle twice, try again. Close the driver door
