Break Problem

My breaks just started making noise when i have my foot on the break. It makes almost humming noise and its sounds like its coming from the master cylinder and i can feel a pumping action on the breaks. Its a 95, 2.2L, 3 speed automatic with ABS breaks. I have just changes the trans fluid and other then the breaks everything is working fine. I hope someone can help with this problem, Thanks

Re: Break Problem

Do you feel the pumping action in the pedal when you hit the brakes? If so then it may be a rotor that has warped slightly. Do you feel as shake or vibration if you hit the brakes hard? That is usually the best indicator of this problem. The humming noise you describe could be coming from the ABS unit but you should get a ABS light if anything is wrong with that system.

It happens only when the car is stopped and its standing still then the vibration starts. No ABS light has come on.

Re: Break Problem

With someone in the car open the hood and put your hand on the ABS pumps. If that is where the vibration is coming from then you should be able to feel it or it should go away. If you don't feel a significant vibration with your hand then it is probably coming from somewhere other than the ABS unit.

I had a similar problem...

I had a similar problem with my brakes. It turned out that the master cylinder on one of the rear brakes was leaking and the brake shoe was ruined. Have you had anyone check them out? I don't know much about cars...I'm just on here to get advice I'm getting the rear brakes replaced tonight, so I can't tell you what the result is yet. Good luck!
