Why does my deck keep shutting off??
I have a 2 year old Panasonic deck w/ the blue digital screen and earlier this year i blew the preamp. One of my friends hooked his amp to the speaker wires leading to the deck rather than the speakers and this killed the amp in my deck.
I bought a new 4 channel 600watt amp and hooked it up today...exactly how it describes. The problem is that every 10 minutes almost exactly, the deck shuts off. It turns right back on though if you shut the car off and turn it back on. Why would this happen?? It is kinda starting to piss me off, but hey its better to have 10 minutes of music than to have nothing at all.

Re: Why does my deck keep shutting off??
you blew the preamp and now the amp in your deck is blown...what? Preamp and the internal amp are two different things.
How exactly do you have the amp hooked up?

Re: Why does my deck keep shutting off??
i was told that i blew the amp in my deck. I was told that it is called a preamp. IDK if that is correct but whatever.
Anyway, i have the new external 4 channel amp run off of 2 sets of RCA's. I have 2 outs in the back of my deck. One set is front, one is rear. I have both sets run to my amp in the trunk and all of the speakers are run to the amp as well. The speakers are all hooked up correctly and zoned left to right, and front to back. I don't know what the problem is. All that happens is that every 10 minutes, the deck shuts off and won't turn on again until the car is shut off and restarted. At that point it starts up like nothin and runs like there was no problem.

Re: Why does my deck keep shutting off??
Preamp are those RCA outputs. It pretty much just changes the signal. Your internal amp is something else, it actually powers your speakers.
As to why it keeps cutting out, I'd look for a short somewhere in your cd player harness.

Re: Why does my deck keep shutting off??
Check the grounding on your deck...I had a similar problem like this with a pioneer deck a while back (minus the blown internal amp)

Radio turns off
First of all, if you have no experience installing amplifiers, you need to be really careful. You need to make sure that you have a fuse within a foot or so of the battery or a short could cause your system to catch on fire. Secondly, I have a problem with my abs light flickering in my car and my radio turning off and an Acura technician told me that my ground cable to the battery needs replacing, but that a I need someone to do an alternator load test first. You might check that out as well. Third, I would make sure that you have your ground cable to your amp hooked up correctly and to a good ground. Finally, check your blue lead wire and make sure it is connected correctly as well.

Re: Why does my deck keep shutting off??
I have the amp grounded within about 8 inches of the battery with a 30 amp fuse and i know that isn't the problem. I will do the load check and check the ground on the amp itself. I'll just double check all of the wiring again and make sure that isn't the problem.

i think your h/u is suspect. but also check your speakers. if one of your speaker is blown it could be shorting out the rest of the system.
