security light on my

I have 2001 pontiac grand am, it has broke down on me for about 20 times always the same problem, the SECURITY LIGHT flashes and wont start the car. They have replaced the feul pump, ignition passlock module, cluster panel, still wont work. I would get rid of this car but my special circumstances wont allow that, I am stuck with a car that does not work. Has anyone else had this problem with the SECURITY light, if so please help.

There's something wrong with the Passlock system... Has the car ever had a remote starter installed?

I have had this problem on two pontiacs now. Eventually you will not get your car to start at all. It is in the security system and the computer needs to be reprogrammed. Each time I have had this problem it has cost over $500. There may be a cheaper fix though. Sometimes you can clean your key and it will stop for a while but still goes back to the reprogramming.

i have a remote starter on my 01 grand am and my security light is always on but i havnt had trouble starting it or anything is this the sign that it could be starting to screw up

It could be all together different. I know mine started with the security light coming on occasionally. I would turn the car off and start it again but eventually one day it just wouldn't start. It thought it was stolen. I always use the remote. This happened to me with a 99 and my 2002.

How many times did it brake down before it totaly wouldnt start up? I dont know if it ever had a remote control installed, since I bought it used. Right now it has been running for about 2 weeks, (they just replaced the cluster panle) its running, but it has the security light on...I know this car will never be fixed, It just gets me SO MAD that GMC would make a a piece of S H I T car like this, I call them every time my car brakes down, they give me a little case number, and thats about it, however they did pay the 500 this time, but that is not enough considering I have to pay 50 bucks to get my car towed, the humilation of the car brakeing down, the stress of trying to find a ride to work, the bad thing is that I got this on special financing, wich means my credit sucks no one wil geive me a trade, and I have to keep paying 400 a month for a car I dont have. UGHHH I hate this F car!!!

same problem happened to me and it was my car starter....had to take it back to place and replace the security box.....
