Zero One

I feel as though only true mclaren enthusiasts have this right to see these photo sry but I dont feel like people from Sc.net and other places boasting about what THEY found....

If you want the 3 pictures I have recieved of LM #o1. please contact me.

NOTE: AIM or MSN because the pix are to large to host and if I change the format they will become damaged more then they already are.

As I asked you in the PM I just sent - are you certain this is LM1? LM1 would be one of the mysterious black LMs.

It seems more likely you have photos of XP1 LM.

Can you see the the "XP1LM" near the left rear wheel in the pics? It could be possible that LM01 is not black, but could have been repainted back to orange. It's much more feasible that the car is LM05 or LM02 -- one of the orange ones.

jcsaleen:

Do you think you could email those pics to me? I don't really feel like downloading MSN or AIM right now.

Hey, I did some research on the location of where the pictures were taken and I found this:

Quote:
AN OVERVIEW OF QCR MOTORS

Q.C.R. Motors Limited was founded in 1975 by Frank (Francis) Hook and Charles Crees, its Joint Managing Directors. They formed their partnership after working alongside each other while gaining their skills within the Motor Trade. John, Frank Hook's son, has also recently been appointed a Director.

From a small beginning, the Company has continued to grow steadily through the intervening years while remaining a family business with strong ties to the local community. The Company remains private and is located in the Coventry area of Warwickshire, England, a few miles from the Jaguar Cars factory.

Within the Specialist Motor Trade, QCR has established a sterling reputation as a Body Shop of excellence consistently applying exacting standards to meet the requirements of its prestige clients. They have often worked alongside their client's technical staff and paint manufacturers to develop new ways of working with materials to give superb paint finishes to the vehicles.

That same expertise and commitment to perfection is applied by the Company whether working for members of the racing community or for individuals. Q.C.R. also currently functions as the body shop for two local prestige dealers: T.W.R. Jaguar of Coventry and Monarch Mercedes Benz of Tamworth.

In 1989 the Company was elected as a member of the Guild of Master Craftsmen and has also received a number of awards within the Motor Trade.

Over the past 15 years the Company has also exercised their specialist skills in body and paint work for a number of high profile projects in the field of motor and rally racing.

During the 1980s the Company was asked by TWR Racing to refinish in their distinctive livery their Group A racing cars. This involvement continued throught the period of their Group C racing and the Silk Cut cars.

In 1992 QCR was chosen by JaguarSport to apply their skills to the the refinishing of their Jaguar XJ220s. This involvement led to McLaren Cars selecting QCR to serve as their specialist refinishers for their McLaren F1 'Supercars'. Many of the XJ220s and F1s have been refinished to their buyer's individual colour specifications.

The Company has even painted into distinctive livery, a staged rocket for the British Aerospace and in 1996 was a sponsor of one of the British entries to the World Solar Challenger, held in Australia.

Awards:

RM Body Shop of Excellence

Jaguar Centre of Excellence.

While the main focus of Q.C.R. remains with Refinishing and Accident repairs to Specialist Motor Vehicles, they have continued to broaden their horizons. Other aspects of the Company include:

Jaguar Parts

Q.C.R. Coatings

Specialist Mini Conversions

Yeah, it's at MTC with XP5 and one of the 1997 Gulf F1 GTR.

I agree with Stratoraptor - I think the car is LM02 or LM05, since it is thought that the Sultan of Brunei owns two black LMs and one orange LM. This may be the final orange LM!

I sent you an email to your account, jc, so can you please email the pictures to my hotmail account?

Well the entire rear engine cover is missing in that shot to, so it doesn't seem like the car is complete.

= = = = = =

I realize the claim of the source is that this LM belongs to the Sultan, but I have a strong feeling these are really shots of LM3 taken before it left England on it's trip to the USA.

For starters, the pics are supposed to be 2 years old. That's about the time that LM3 might have seen a respray prior to its trip.

Additionally, I have never heard of the Sultan's McLarens leaving the island unless it was to be sold.

The final clue that sells me on this being LM3 is the front license plate - it is the exact same size and in the same place as the plate that was on LM3 when David Morrison owned the car.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. While I do appreciate the photos tremendously, I'm just not convinced that the back story is completely accurate.
