CA Glue - Strong Stuff..!!

Just been doing some testing with CA glue, (Tamiya CA) and this stuff sticks fingers pretty well.. I was a little careless with a small drop and it stuck to my finger. I then rubbed both fingers together, to wipe it off, and I just stuck them together..!! Thankfully, I was able to pull them apart..!!

How does this glue work? It is strong, yet it doesn't melt paint as fast as Tamiya Thin Cement. Thin Cement eats the paint with a little drop, using CA and a little drop sticks anything, yet it leaves the paint (almost) alone..!! Odd.!!

Still glad I brought some, worked a treat with the rollcage I just installed. Another product, as with Tamiya Thin Cement and Microscale Clear Glue I think is very useful..

Re: CA Glue - Strong Stuff..!!

I'm not sure how it works chemically, but cement actually melts the plastic and when it cures it fuses the pieces together. That why it doesn't work on anything else.

CA is great stuff if there is a mounting pin involved, and you don't have to position the parts to get them situation right.

Pick up some debonder, in case the finger thing happens again.

Make sure you pick up some de-bonder 'cause one day you will stick you finger to something real bad, mine were stuck to a pair of twezzers for 4 hours
De-bonder will soften it up quick, very handy

Read somewhere that CA was developed around the time of the Vietnam war. Its intention was to be a substance that would quickly seal flesh wounds. This is why its great at sticking your fingers together.

Eww, So this "glue" is not harmful if it goes on you? I have been trying to get my hands on this glue but have been too cheap to buy it I'm still using my good ol Loctite Super Glue

You are correct. If you look in last months Finescale Modeler there is a letter from an eye surgeon who uses it during his surgeries.

Re: CA Glue - Strong Stuff..!!

Those guys that water-ski barefoot use it to heal the splits and cuts on the bottom of their feet.

There is this new flexible stuff, I have a botte right here on top of my monitor. I haven't used it much, but it look promising. At the very least it will work for gluing the tires of my R/C cars to the wheels.

Re: CA Glue - Strong Stuff..!!

I've glued my hand to a cutting board. Not sure if I should be admitting that...and thats only one of the many things I've been glued to.

Loctite Super glue is CA glue.

CA, Cyano, Super glue, they're all the same thing. Just look at the packet, if it says Cyanoacrylate then its super glue

Oh and it looks like Flyonthewall has seen Dog Soldiers too

Cheers
