97 Escort tail turn signal

Hi,
my 97 escort's right turn signal is not working, looks like the bulb at the tail is burnt. I tried to replace the bulb, the first problem is I don't know how to remove the plastic cover(yeah, I am a complete newbie). I found two screws there but after unscrew them, it's still stuck somewhere. Could somebody give me a hint? Thanks a lot.

v.h.

Re: 97 Escort tail turn signal

There is a shaft on the other end of the taillight assembly on the side of the car. After taking the screws out hit the back of the lens with the palm of your hand moving towards the side of the car as you do it. The lens should just pop off. Or you can take a screwdriver and pry the lens outwards from the side of the car. The lens and shaft will come right off. Take the socket out of the housing and remove the bulb. No problem.

Re: 97 Escort tail turn signal

Your very welcome. I'm glad you got it to come off.
When I changed the bulb in mine I, too wondered how to get it off. Then I called the service advisor at the Ford dealership and he told me how to get it off.
