Synthetic or regular
Is it worth it to run a good synthetic in a 93 integra ls or just stick with some reg. Also do higher miles have any effect (ie gasket problems with synthetic)? i have 134,000 on my car. What does everyone else run? right now i have castrol gtx high mileage 5w30.

Re: Synthetic or regular
Sometimes with higher mileage motor the seal sometime have a lot of buildup on them that actually help them from leaking. When you switch to synthetic it cleans all that buildup out of the motor and in some cases the seals start to leak. If the oil has been changed on time from the time the car was fairly new then you should be ok to switch to synthetic.

yeah ive got an oil pan gasket that looks like it wants to go, ill probably have to stay away from that. Anyone know where i can buy a new oil pan gasket, or possibly an aftermarket pan and gasket ( i think the previous owner bottomed out on the pan once or twice) its a little dinged up. Shit, isn't castrol gtx a synthetic? sometimes i just don't think, oh well i changed it and if it starts leaking then it starts leaking i guess.

Re: Synthetic or regular
Castrol makes a synthetic but the GTX is not synthetic.
Try www.thepartstrader.com for a good used oil pan, the buy a gasket from any acura dealer. Be sure to get pics of tha pan and pay only with paypal to a verified member if you buy one at the link above. Oh and almost forgot don't forget to get some hondabond from the acura dealer.

Re: Synthetic or regular
Yes hondabond is a RTV sealant, you can use any RTV sealant though does not have to be hondabond, I just like it better myself.

Synthetic is the way to go. But as much as I change my oil (about every 3 or 4 weeks) I would go broke.
