New radio/cd

Hi everyone.I have just purchased a jvc car sterio for my 1997 corolla gs.The original has two small screws once the removable front has been taken away i have removed the screws but can,t get the radio out.How do you remove the black cowling that covers the radio.I have tried to pull radio forward but it seems to be retained by the surround.Any help please.

are the screws sorta hiddin under (as in towards the ground) the molding? i was feeling around the other day and found those, the only way to get that off to the extent of my knowledge is those screws. i plan to install a sony in a few days so i will let you know what i find out

Thanks. I can,t see any screws the sterio is housed in a pod on top of the dash. it does look as though it is removable somehow but can,t see how

There are a total of 4 bolts holding the radio in and 4 holding the pocket in / they should pull out as 1 unit

thanks...im spending my tax return on a new system, so it saves me some time of pulling on something thats still attached!
