Overhead Interior Light Problem

Okay, I've searched and searched but it seems no one has posted a problem like this, at least one I can find, so I'm hoping by posting this problem someone can help.

My overhead lamp on my 98 WINDSTAR will not come on when you open up the doors, any door or back hatch - nothing. NOW, this light DOES work, you can press the buttons on either side and it works, you can push the dial on the dash and it will come on, but it won't work by just opening the doors. Checked fuse - it's fine - no problems there. Can't be anything on the door since it's just not an isolated problem with one door-or at least I wouldn't think it was associated to a door.

Any ideas? Of all the problems my van has, I'm hoping someone out there knows how I may be able to easily fix it. From what I've found, most people have the problem of the light not going out - mine's the opposite

THANKS!

Open any door.
Partially remove dome lamp
Measure voltage on Circuit 53 (BK/LB) at dome lamp connector.
Is voltage B+?
Yes No
GO to AH2 . SERVICE Circuit 53 (BK/LB) for open. RESTORE vehicle. RETEST system.
This is from Ford manual. There is a relay and a pulse module in the system also. Do this test first and post back. Maybe just a broken wire.

Re: Overhead Interior Light Problem

After a while of searching and giving up and posting a similiar thread, I have the same problem. It occurred after I replaced the battery and a couple of lights. I own a 99 windstar, and I don't have a single dome light. It has a center console on the roof and it comes with 2 individual map lights.

Any help would be appreciated.
