327, 350, or 383 in S10?

(Please note that I'm going to be asking quite a few questions about this. )

Which engine would probably be best in an S10? A 327, 350, or 383? How would you compare the 3 engines with each other? (The horsepower, torqe, etc.)?

305 (not my favoret engine) or a 350, they have the most info available out there and are the easyest to do, it also makes a difference with what you have now, 2.2,2.5,2.8,3.4(f body swap) or 4.3, the 4.3 is the easyes conversion by far

Re: 327, 350, or 383 in S10?

The 350 is by far the easiest and cheapest motor to get. There are not many 327 & 383 motors available compared to the 350. However, if you can pick up a 327 or 383 at a reasonable price (within your budget) then I would pick either of them over the 350. All the engines are the same physical block size, so any accessory will just bolt right up.

Can you just order a brand new 327 or 383? (I'd probably rather have a brand new one) And if so, how much is the price?

Re: 327, 350, or 383 in S10?

If you get a 383, or any stroker get it professionally built.

Avoid 305's

327's are all high compression, and a fast reving motor. Several peoples choice for performance.

Some 350's are great, and others are low compression pigs, so look into the years before you buy it.

Also look into 400 small blocks. They can easily be built right up and weigh the same as a 350
Some have bad blocks, but I can tell you what to look for (they overheat)

Te best performance upgrade is aftermarket alumine heads

You didn't tell us what you plan on droping this motor in. Some engines are better suited for 4x4, and some street rod applications

400 won't fit, too big.

My truck is a regular 2-wheel drive. It says S10 Tahoe (whatever that measn) on the side. My truck is an extended cab (again, it may not matter, but I just thought I'd mention it just in case.)
