Re: 3.8Litre anti freeze leaking
I haven't heard about a recall. You should contact your local Buick dealer and ask them they should know.

Re: 3.8Litre anti freeze leaking
Hope it's not that upper plennum problem where the EGR valve tube passes through the plastic plennum and melts/erodes away the plastic. Had that problem on my 97. It leaked some antifreeze on the engine, but mostly into the intake. I used an after market kit to fix it. Had to epoxy and sand on it. It worked really slick though and didn't have to pay $400 for the new piece. They wanted another $400 for labor. I don't know if the 99s had that problem though. From what I recall, the actual gaskets that I got from the dealer were very good quality.

Re: 3.8Litre anti freeze leaking
There should have been because if you own 3800 v6 and don't have a problem you are very lucky, you'll probably find the best proceedure for the repair here either on Buick,Olds,Pontiac furums.Good Luck

Re: 3.8Litre anti freeze leaking
The upper plenum is the upper part of the intake manifold. It's the plastic deal you see after taking off the first plastic deal (engine cover) that is attached by/near the oil fill cap. Mine was leaking on the end near where the EGR tube attaches (driver's side). It's been over a year ago since I put in the kit. I think the company was called Kenco or something like that. I bought it from the GM dealer in Caribou, Maine. It wasn't too difficult to do. Everything comes off real easy.

What Did You Have To Epoxy And Sand? I Have To Take A Look At What He Has Leaking. Hopefully Its As Easy As You Say!

Re: 3.8Litre anti freeze leaking
There is a great post on this forum that explains how to do the entire process. It is about 5 subjects below this one and it provides a step-by-step on how to do it. You have to epoxy and sand part of the plastic plenum to get it smooth, etc. It isn't too difficult, just follow the directions with the kit.
