Still Overheating

I bled the two brass nuts, water pump and thermo-jacket, even had the Low Coolant light go off for a while.Get steam then fluid, then when Idrive it around the block, overheats, the fluid goes in the overflow canister and the Low Coolant light comes back on. So there`s no oversight, this was a complete lower head gasket replacement. Anyone have any Ideas where I might have screwed up or something to try. Tired, Pi$$ed, and Sore. At 50 I should be cursing in some Hot Rod, not banging nuckles on the wife`s car. Thanks Everyone

Re: Still Overheating

If it overheats that fast I would replace the thermostat with a new one and check the water pump to make sure it is working. If the head gaskets were replaced than it should be something simple.

Re: Still Overheating

or the headgasket isnt seated properly. allowing air to drawn into the engine pushing out the coolant.

Guess after reading other post, I should clearify, the gauge goes stsrts to go into the red or close, then I shut it down before it actually overheats. My neighbor, who has worked for GM, in engineering, has had three of these cars. Two of the three had same symptoms, right around 60 to 80000 miles. Under warranty the dealer added some kind of pellets, like radiator stop leak and the problem stopped. Thinking about looping a cut off to the heater core and trying this. Any sugestions, good idea/ bad idea? Steam is still existing out of exhaust tailpipe. I nedd one of those little smilies with a gun to it`s head!!!

Yeah, there is a tech bullitin out for adding the coolant sealing pellets you mentioned. These are supposed to be used to fill the minor imperfections on the metal. Kinda like a GM version of stop-leak.

Re: Still Overheating

If you think it is an unsealed head gasket then try the new Bars product that is supposed to seal head gasket leaks. It is called block seal and head gasket repair. Bars makes a good product and this may be the easy way to remedy the problem.

Yeah, when I scraped the gasket material off the lower intake one of the water jackets on the passenger side that dead ends two the upper intake. (just little indentation on each side of upper) The aluminum was dis-colored and almost looked pitted.I should of taken the lower head in right then. both sides of the intake laid flat against the glass I set them on. Figured it was good to go. At least there`s no leaks to outside.
Thanks For All The Input !!
