Re: d17 2001-04 civic motor

They are real hard to drop in. For one you must convert to obd-2b because of disributorless ignition. Plus most d-series parts dont bolt up right, and its not really worth all the effort!

Re: d17 2001-04 civic motor

yeah, but they are starting to get some nice aftermarket for them, as with any other civic. I can't wait to see the new civic lineup roll out

Re: d17 2001-04 civic motor

yes but the stock motor is only 108 so whats the problem and i see them for only 400 dollars with 3-10k miles . so if it was a quick drop in i would do it and not think twice

Re: d17 2001-04 civic motor

no the D17a1 was 115hp in DX and LX 1.7L Vtec,
and the D17a2 is 127hp in the EX...

Not sure on the codes....But IMO its not worth it. Getting the exact ecu would be real expensive, plus getting new alternator, coils, etc. etc. not worth it.

Dont feel bad, why because i asked the exact same question like over a year ago...haha

Re: d17 2001-04 civic motor

Would the d-series tranny bolt right up though?

Re: d17 2001-04 civic motor

i believe there were some major changes with the engine when they released the d17 so i've heard some of the old d-series parts aren't interchangeable - but i believe the tranny would bolt up never know unless you try it
