Coolant levels................

got a `99 EXT montana. This past week the coolant light has been go on and off. So i check the reserve tank and its empty. So i add a mixture of coolant and water. I check it today (4 days later) and the reserve tank is dry again. Im not seeing any puddles and spots on the driveway. Is this the dreaded head gasket issue? I havent checked around the engine compartment for leakage. I only have 68k miles.

Re: Coolant levels................

I can see it on the engine but not where its actually leaking. Its more towards the drivers side. Its wet around the oil pan and on up. Its got that well known orangish color. If its leaking around the back gasket than thats a problem. Front one is more managable.

It's your lower intake manifold gasket. I just replaced mine and it's a major pain in the butt. It's a well known issue with these engines and it's about a 1000.00 dollar job at your dealer. If you keep driving it you will eventually destroy your engine so don't let it go to long. Good luck.

Hey where's that info for getting the lower intake gasket for $100 - does that include just the stupid part or the labor too?

Thanks.
