New Beetle door interor problems

I have a question on how to fix the peeling interior around the arm rests and door handle on a '99 Beetle without replacing the entire door panel? I live in a humid area of the country, and I had my windows open on the car for a couple of days, to find that the armrest vinyl was bubbling and pulling away on both doors. the interior panels are fine otherwise, and I did not want to replace the entire panel, since I think that the metallic trim down to the speaker grille is all one peice. Any suggestions on how to fix them? I appreciate the advice!

You do unfortunately have to replace the entire door pannel (about 130 bucks) But the new ones come with hard plastic painted trim not the dumb rubbery stuff that peels off.

Re: New Beetle door interor problems

Saw your last reply on the door panels. You mentioned the whole door panel has to be replaced at a cost of about $130. I really, really need to know where you can find replacement door panels. My daughter has a 1999 VW New Beetle that I would like to replace the door panels on. The interior color is tan. I can't find them anywhere. Can you please help me??? My email is [email protected] Thank you for any information you can give.

Re: New Beetle door interor problems

We had similar problems with our 2003 New Beetle where the top layer peeled just like skin peels from your body if you get sunburnt. Once this top layer peeled off it seems OK. We live in tropical North Queensland (Australia) so we have very high humidity and temps. If the plastic is continuing to peel, why not remove the door trim and mask off the arm rests and spray them with vinyl paint which is designed to bond to vinyl surfaces. This may stop the peeling. Good Luck.

Re: New Beetle door panel interor problems

Can someone direct me to where I can get two door panels? The leather part of the door panel is peeling off. I've tried to re-glue both sides with spray on heavy duty adhesive with very ugly results. I believe that the only solution is to replace the leather part or the whole door panel.
Thanks.
