2004 blazer or 2003 trailblazer?

We just got in 2004 4 door blazers at our dealer fully loaded for $14995 and also 2003 trailblazers for $17995. I know what troubles I am getting into with the blazer, but dont know about the trailblazers that much. Mileage is about the same on both 4x4s. The front axle runs through the oil pan on the TBs I heard. So which would a person lean toward buying. Because whatever I buy I tend to hold onto forever. Driving 65,69,80,89,91,93 now. Need to update one.

Check the new Consumer's Reports automotive issue. The Trailblazers have had issues with the cooling fans and they leak at the camshaft timing actuator (behind the power steering pump). If you get one, make sure all the computers have the latest updates. If you do your own work, check out the location of the oil filter.

I would rather buy something that has been in production for a while, they have worked out most of the bugs and reduced most of the cost. New vehicles have new bugs and you don't really know what you are getting.....

Re: 2004 blazer or 2003 trailblazer?

I think blazers look nicer than trailblazers. There's something about the trailblazer that makes me think glorified minivan.

I'm not sure about performance and all, but the 4.3 in the blazers has been around for a while. In different opinions that may a good or bad thing, but there are a ton of parts around for them.

I would lean toward the s-blazer, too. I also think 'Glorified Minivan' which is why I opted for a 94 S-Blazer, old square body, bash 'em up truck. Parts availability is probably better, and a Blazer is, well, A BLAZER! My next play toy, a 1985 BLAZER ( big un, 350, etc, etc,) Also, do their axles really run thru their oil pan? Yow!
