Thumbs up In your opinion..........

Of the 2 engines........which would you choose for a 94 Civic DX? K20A 2.0L DOHC i-VTEC or H22A 2.2L DOHC VTEC? I've heard good and bad between the both of them. Everyone around here has B18's, and I wanted to be a little different than everyone else. Thanks for participating in advance!

I'd pick the k20 myself, and this is coming from someone who has an h22.

Although be prepared to spend an ungodly amount of money with either setup.

Re: In your opinion..........

k20a woohoo! I dream about swapping that engine in some older civics every night. Although its not for the faint of heart. Something else you might want to consider is a k24a2 swap out of a tsx, 200hp 170-180lb/ft torque i can get you one for a decent price but either one would be awesome in that car. If you do this swap just come move up to south carolina for a few days while you do it so I can join ya

Ok check this out. I have (from what I was told) a D series engine. Its completely stock. I wish to switch it out with something more powerful, but funds are short. BUT, I went to this website, and this guy was talking about how a stock Civic is and can better the a B Series. I would love to stay stock, and build the engine up from there. Ok, heres the website, and let me know what you think of what he says.
Here it is-----> http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=335078

P.S. Its pretty long, so grab a glass of tea and be prepared to read

that d16 buildup is probably going to make the same dent in your pocket as a motor swap.

How much money do you have anyway?

Re: In your opinion..........

wtf? I typed in my reply and its not showing up? Oh well, I'll type it again. I have about $1000 to burn on the engine. My other question was, if you have a *K20A- JDM 2.0L DOHC i-VTEC '02+ Integra Type R engine, do you have to buy K20 parts? For example, would I buy an Acura cold air intake, or would I buy a Honda Civic c.a.i? Thanks!

Re: Re: In your opinion..........

Damn, I forgot to type in something. Sorry about this next question, but I gotta ask it. If my Civic's dash says 140mph on it, why the hell cant I even do 110 in it? Did it go 140 at one point in time, or is this Hondas idea of a cruel joke? Whatever the answer may be, my Honda can still hold its own

For the cold air intake, you would have to buy one that is motor specific (K20 Specific). So yes, you would have to buy an intake made for an RSX/RSX-S/Civic Si/JDM Integra Type-R. But this is all assuming that the given intake will mate properly (not have any fitting/clearance issues) with a K20 in an older model Civic. Some companies (such as AEM) make intakes specifically made for swapped hondas.

As for the speedometer; Unfortunately i'll have to say that this is indeed a cruel joke from Honda. Although, you might be able to get your needle pinned at that glorious 140 once you get your swap in. So don't give up.

Hehe. Down here in Central Florida, I found a shop my mechanic told me about that sells B Series engines, etc for $800 bucks. They told me for installation, all the parts and stuff it'd be about $1000-1200 bucks. He said they are very trustworthy guys, and like to help promote the Tuner Scene. Hell, I'm all for it

Are you fucking kidding me? Any place that sells you B series swaps for 800 and K swaps for 1200 is selling you stolen shit, period, no questions asked.

Theres a b18 for $850, he said b series not b16b or anything specific. And he never said anything about a k swap for 1200.

Im pretty curious to find out exactly what engine it is that he can get you for 800 bucks. If you can find out an engine code or anything let us know.
