Installing NSX vents

Hi Does anyone hiow would you install the nsx ventsa on the side of the car. I found some on ebay. The only thing I know is first I would have to cut the size of the vent but then I dont what i am going to use to bond it together, and how do people make it so smooth to the car. If anyone have any experience with installing vents on the side, I would really appreciate their help, Thank you

Well there are two different ways to do this. First off are the vents metal or plastic? If they're metal then you can just cut a hole in the body where you want them and then weld them into place, smooth out your welds, then bondo and sand the area to make everything smooth, then primer and paint. If the vents are plastic then you're gonna need to cut a hole where the vents go then fiberglass them in place. You do this by mixing epoxy resin with chopped up fiberglass mat. After fiberglassing you sand, bondo, sand, and then primer and paint. This is a pretty difficult job no matter which way you do it so I wouldn't reccomend starting it unless you're a pretty good body-guy. Hope this helps you out. Peace-

so. you put them with resin. even if they are made up of fiberglass. You dnt put some glue (SEM) to bond them together. or something like that

I don't know of any type of glue that would really do the job. I mean if you just wanna get it done i'm sure you can figure something out. But if you wanna do it the right way you'll need to fiberglass them into place. Peace-

I am just saying, will fiberglas be strong enough for that and how many layers would I do

I dont believe you have room for layers since you will have to sand the fiberglass itself once it hardens to give it the right shape before you put bondo on it since bondo should only be skim coated just to make the fiberglass bumps straight. so i'd say if you use the home Depot fiberglass mat, 2-3 layers should be fine, also about the strength, i dont think any glue would be better than fiberglass. doesnt metter what kind, its going to be a HALF ASS JOB if you dont fiberglass it. Also i there's a company that makes this filler, 30 bucks for the tube which is specially made for bonding fiberglass scoops or shaving your bumpers in with the fenders so you have no body lines, etc. it is probably the only thing i would say that is better than fiberglass and it can be applied like "the glue" and used as filler and everything, and at the end, you just put sum more of it on and sand it, so you have to do no fiberglassing at all. just pile that stuff on, and sand it and primer and paint, email me at [email protected] if you want more info about the tube filler.
