I changed the oil in my 2003 Cavalier today and when I pulled the pan out from under the car I noticed a gold colored substance on stop. It kinda looked like foam, but it is hard to tell. I rubbed it between my fingers and it did not feel gritty. I took a picture of it if you think that will help. you can view it here oil pan
Any input would be appreciated Thanks Sh@un |

Re: Strange looking stuff in oil
My thinking is it starting to sludge up from lack of frequent oilchanges or severe driving conditions.
Try at next change, if it not fuel issue, to put a can of the 5-minute Gumout Engine Flush in and follow can directions before changing the oil. |

Re: Strange looking stuff in oil
Sure looks like fuel/oil churning took place inside the engine. Perhaps no more chocolate milkshakes?

Re: Strange looking stuff in oil
Oh yeah, it's best not to touch it if there is any black sludge in the motor as this can be highly acidic and spreads and can only be stopped by amputation, rare but a possiblity!
