hi guys i recently bought a jetta gls 2000 it is gorgeous the only problem i have is the cd changer,it is not working properly i already sent it to a maintenance check but it still would not work,as soon as i insert the disk the radio will appear on the screen chk magazine and after that cd error i thought it might just need a little cleaning but not,i was told by a radio technician that is familiar with this changers that once they start to give problen the best thing to do is get rid of it ....i'm open for suggetions ok thx

You have to replace the entire cd changer unit. They go bad internally. Get a referbished one there 1/2 price of a new one.

They last about 3-4yrs.

the cd changers are crap. I have a 98 Jetta and it worked good for the first year and ever since then it is hit or miss. Sometimes I get chk mag and sometimes cd error and other times it works like a charm.
