New Truck PERFORMANCE Packages (2004 and 2005)
Greetings Fellow Silverado drivers,
Much of the threads and comments on the A.F. is about performance or adding performance to our vehicles. That's a good thing. But for many like myself - knowing and accessing performance features AVAILABLE from the factory and INCLUDED in new vehicle packages is a big benefit for their driving enhancement. And its something new to explore for current and future buyers. 2004 saw the first of the Silverado Performance Package. I have a truck with that package - and I love it. This package is for rear wheel drive 1500 series Extended Cab product only. 6 liter engine - 345 hp - performance suspension, wheels, tires, heavy duty transmission - all straight from the factory as a completed vehicle. (see my gallery for further details). There weren't alot of them - they didn't come out till June 2004 - but they were AND ARE out there to buy (got mine in later August). So I've been watching to see what 2005 would bring. Below is the links to Chevy's website for Silverado 2005 features: http://www.chevrolet.com/silverado/features/ Below is the link the Chevy list of engines in the 2005 Silverado: http://www.chevrolet.com/silverado/s...ations/#engine The NEW 2005 configurator lists this description as the Silverado Limited Edition: Silverado Limited Edition, includes (PDU) Light Duty Performance Package, (Z60) Suspension package, High Performance, (GT4) Rear axle, 3.73 ratio, (UK3) Sound system feature, steering wheel mounted radio controls, (CJ2) Air conditioning, dual-zone, automatic, (QR9) Wheels, 4 - 20" x 8.5", cast aluminum, chromed, 5-spoke, (QSS) Tires, P275/55R20, touring, blackwall, (ZAN) Tire, spare P265/70R17, blackwall and 17" Wheel, steel, spare (B2E) Below is the link (if it works) to the Chevy Silverado 2005 Extended cab configurator of the Silverado Performance Package (it may require you re choose the BOTTOM 5.3 engine on the selector in order for the Silverado Performance package to display: http://www.chevrolet.com/byo/selectOption.cv;jsessionid=SVLSEQ2VTMKCOCSUR2UCCAQ KKSHSSIJK?fromColor=true&pvc=125&styleId=LS&make=C hevrolet&model=Silverado&cabSize=Extended%20Cab&mo delId=003&cabSizeId=2&boxSizeId=59&driveType=2WD%2 0&year=2005&boxSize=Standard%20Box&subModelId=4&ma keId=001&subModel=1500&style=LS&zip=54601&driveTyp eId=7&&vehicleModel=/images/gmbp/13001/vehicle/2005/med/4_8624.gif&exteriorColorId=50U&interiorColorId=69D &seatTypeId=AE7&colorOptions=50U^69D^AE7&exteriorC olor=Summit%20White%20&interiorColor=Dark%20Charco al%20Custom%20Cloth%20&colorVisited=true&inValidOp tions=&iPi=4&fPi=5&showModelNav=false What I find interesting - is that for 2005 Chevy offers both a 5.3 liter and a 5.3 liter High output engine (with 15 hp more for the H.O. version but same size/compression specs). The NEW Silverado Performance Package offers the same great special Z60 suspension, wheels, tires, and differential as mine - however it appears to not offer the 6 liter high output engine like the 2004 offers (mine) but instead a 5.3 liter with the other features etc.. Hope some are watching and following along on these packages from Chevy - because they do make a big difference in the drivability of the vehicles. Anyone know anything about this 5.3 liter high output engine? White Lightening Last edited by White Lightening; 03-07-2005 at 02:16 PM. |
