'96 Accord Transmission Problems

I have a 1996 Accord V6 Automatic with 104k and I am having some issues with the transmission. When I pull up to a stop sign and try to go again it acts like the transmission is in neutral. I can shift down to 1st or 2nd and it will go. Once I get moving I can shift up to D3 and D4(over drive) and everything seems ok but once I stop again and try taking off the transmission acts like it is in neutral. I have had a couple of times where I have came to a stop and it will take off again with the trany in D4. Not really sure what is going on here and was wondering if anyone has experienced this or knows what might be wrong. Is the tranny shot or is there a controle module that might be bad. And yes it does have enough tranny fluid in it.

Thanks.

Re: '96 Accord Transmission Problems

There is a trans control module, and I think the shifts are solenoid controlled. Sounds like a control system problem moreso than an actual mechanical fault, since you can manually shift it.

I talked to the transmission shop today and they susspected that there is a set of clutches that got bad inside the transmission. They told me worst case, $1700 - $2000 to rebuild it. I found some on the internet from junkyards ranging from $700 to $950. Not sure what to do with it yet. Anyone interested in buying a loaded 1996 Accord?
