B20 swap into civic

What would it take to swap in a b20 with a 5 speed into a hatchback with a 1.5L and a 4 speed. Would I have to get a wiring harness or can I just bold it in and what else would I need besides the motor and trans to swap in. Will the clutch assembly fit on a 5 speed thanks

Re: B20 swap into civic

this type of question gets asked all the time, you could use the search function.

no, you cant use your clutch from the d series. you're gonna need to wire over to multipoint fuel injection. you'll also need to convert to obd1 or 2, im not sure what the b20 is. youre going to need need motor mounts for a b series swap and shift linkage too. you wont be able to use the b20 intake manifold either, i think you have to swap on gsr manifold onto it since the b20 is too big. you'll need to get axles too, and a ecu. you'll need a throttle cable from a 90-93 integra. you'll have to get the hasport hydro conversion kit if your planning to use the crv tranny, if not you'll need a cable b series trans. you'll also need to get hubs from a civic or crx si too. thats the most of it, if i forgot anything im sure someone else will include it later.

I think you need to brush up on your b20 swaps.....first....they are OBD1.....but you'll need to conver to OBD0....so you'll need the integra(90-93) dizzy, injectors, and ecu. You are right with needing the Integra manifold.....but you dont need a GSR. Any B-series will work. I'd again go with a DA Teg part....You also cant use the hasport hydro kit....The fancy AWD CRV Tranny wont work in your FWD Tuna can, So you'll need another b-series tranny, for here you'd want to use a cable 90-93 Teg tranny. Now you dont need the hubs from a Civic/CRX SI....thats a total Myth, unless he has a CX/STD The DX came with the same hubs as the SI, so Any b-series axle will fit without modification. The B-series axles should fit the CX/STD Hubs if you remove the dust rings....Atleast they do in our Canadian CX's.....someone correct me if Im wrong.

LOL...that's funny. You're both horribly wrong. Leave the talking on B20 swaps up to me.

First of all, B20's are not originally obd1. The weren't made until 1997 and continued thru 2000. They were obd2. To swap it into an obd0 88-91 civic/crx, and keep it obd0, you're are going to need a distributor from a 90-91 integra ls/gs/rs. If you get either the jdm b20b or the usdm b20z, swapping the intake manifold is not necessary as it is identical to the 94+ integra manifold. Only the usdm b20b intake manifolds are the tall rise versions. The same would be true for the ecu and injectors you need them from a 90-91. 92-93 integras are obd1 not obd0. As for the axles, use 90-93 integra units. They fit better than 94+ units.
You're gonna need a 90-93 integra tranny or get any one of the jdm one's such as the J1, S1, or Y1 from the 89-91 crx/civic siR or 90-93 integra RSi/XSi.
If you need any more information, feel free to PM me.

Re: B20 swap into civic

I just got this JDM B20B with B16 Tranny in my 91 CRX. I bought a lighten and rebalanced ITR flywheel with a High performance clutch for it. Should I expect much more from this set up than if it was a USDM B20B with LS Tranny, stock flywheel and clutch?

Re: B20 swap into civic

all you guys are wrong in some way

you could also switch to obd1 if the motor comes with a dist. if your motor comes with injectors then you dont need to get injectors, you just need to wire them for high impedance. you also can run a hydro trans such as a gsr, b16, or ls you will just need the hasport hydro conversion. you also needs hubs from a 4th gen dx or si because your std hubs wont fit integra axles. your also going to need to do the dpfi to mpfi swap

lots of bambam's advice is right, he just doesnt give you all the options like switching to obd1 and running a hydro trans, etc.
