humming noise when turning

there is a high pitched humming noise in my 87 ranger when i turn my steering wheel that gets louder the farther i turn the wheel and i can also feel the vibration in the wheel. what could this be. any advice?

could it be a slipping belt? or maybe a pulley that needs new bearings? (if there are any on that pulley... not sure)

Check your power steering fluid. This sounds to me like a faulty power steering pump.
