Burning oil smell

Can any one give me an idea of whats going on? I have a 2000 impala w/ 3.8L When i'm driving and i have the heater on i can smell like burning oil. When I looked under the hood i can see this gunky oil residue just above the exhust headers. I this a blown head gasket?

Head gaskets don't normally leak oil. I would guess its just the valve cover gasket. Remove and replace. Clean off old oil!

I have the oil smell as well with my 2000 Impala, Mine is from a leak by the intake, very slow leak for me and not worth the cost of repair for me when the engine has nearly 160k miles on the clock. (The oil leak itself is slow enough that I get an oil change far far before the car ever needs oil added)
