91 astro wont stay started

I went to Target to buy a massager for my hurt back, the van ran great. I came out and started up the van and it started great for a couple of seconds and then died so I started it again and same thing. So I figured out if I pumped the gas peddle up and down like a bike I could make it back home.
Since then I have replaced the egr, the fuel filter, rebult the fuel pressure regulator, checked the fuel pump, it's pumping and looked at the injectors, you can see the fuel coming out great and then it comes to a stop and the van dies. I also did a complete tune up and some more stuff I forgot about already.
Would you please give me your suggestions, I would really appreciate it very much. The only thing I can think of is maybe the IAC valve or that the van is just jelious of the machine I bought for my back.

After all of that there is no change and I still can't drive it and running out of funds.
Well just put a new Iac valve, still wont stay running, what else is there???

New Question, What part is likely to stop working all at once? And so severe that it will not let the van Idle at all, I can just start it right up and then dies in 4 seconds unless I keep pushing the gas peddle up and down to keep the fuel flowing to the injectors ????? I'm stumpped. Any Ideas?????????? All suggestions really appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remove the doghouse and check your distributor cap and rotor and
coilpack. Replace only if faulty. Give your cap and rotor and good wipe
to get rid of all the carbon. Check for cracks. Spray the cap and
wires with WD40 or silicon spray to get rid of moisture.

I don't see an IAC helping much. Sounds like you are loosing either fuel or spark. Have you checked the fuel pressure? I know you've said you can see the injectors firing. But they will fire with too low of fuel pressure.

The fuel pump relay could be failing as well. A short there could be occuring after it warms up, van runs a little while... Then it would die.

After that an failing ignition module would be my next guess.

The oil pressure switch has a switch in it to keep the fuel pump working after the 2 seconds that the computer lets it run for starting. Since you got home, this must be working, but maybe it's intermittent?

I agree with the oil pressure switch failing to power the fuel pump or a problem with this electrical circuit; as a possible source of this problem.

I would run a test wire from the fuel pump and monitor with a test light to see if the fuel pump is loosing power or it is another type of problem.

Another consideration is that if you have a distributor, the distributor module fires the ignition coil until the engine reaches 400 RPM, then the computer takes control of ignition firing. Perhaps the ignition module in the distributor is intermittent while the computer is controlling it. It is about an $18.00 part. This modules can be intermittent which is effectively turning off your engine. The defective module becomes temperature sensitive.

I agree with some of the others. Check fuel pressure. I recently worked on a 89 chevy suburban TBI, the injector spray pattern looked ok, but the pressure was too low. If you cranked it long enough, it would eventually spray enough gas in there to start, but it ran poorly, then died.

Have you checked for any trouble codes? If there is an extended crank because of no voltage on the fuel pump circuit, some GM vehicles will set a code for that, reguardless of the oil pressure switch.

Astro & Mermaid, I wouldn't change the pump without doing some testing. Have you done any testing? Fuel pressure test?
