car wont start

whats up guys well i just went to start my car and it did not start i pushed my alarm button and it worked but when i put my key in and try to turn it on my doors start unlocking and there is a clicking noise behind my glove box. the check engine light turned on and the battery light is on also. I didnt change anything or messed around with anything
it just went dead any ideas. could it be my alternator? I am running a 1600 watt amp?

i just removed the power cable for the amp from the battery and now the speedometer lights turn on and i hear a clicking in the fromt i think its the starter. the stero works fine though

Re: car wont start

turn the stereo off.

Have the battery and the alternator tested.

And don't run your stereo with the truck off.

Re: car wont start

I had the same problem last week with mine.
it ended up being the starter.
The new Hitachi one goes for about $150cdn with a five year warranty.

Same place it is on all the other trucks, passenger side at the base of the transmission against the flywheel.

Take a voltmeter and go out to the battery and test the voltage and come back.

Use an actual voltmeter.

Your battery is shot.

A fully charged battery will read 12.8-13.5 when up to proper level.

No way a battery can turn the engine over running only 7.8volts.

Re: car wont start

The battery is shot, take the voltmeter out to it and measure the voltage again.

Re: car wont start

good news guys i took my car to get checked out with a mechanic and i told him what was going on. He thought at first that it could of been the alarm i have on the blazer. He opened the hood and charged my battery with his charger and he tried turning it on and nothing happened he then opened the water compartment on the battery and he was like yeah its your battery.(i was like well autozone checked it twicw and said it was good) he said it smelled liked rotten eggs so i went to autozone and bought a new battery and installed it and it worked!! What a relief
starter- $150
Battery-$80

well thanks to everyone who helped and thanks LT you hit it right in the nose. any idea why my starter could of messed up?
