Help!

I'm having accleration problems! Everytime I try to accelerate, the engine seems to be lacking power. I changed spark plugs, bought a fuel filter (trying to figure out where the electrical connection for the fuel pump is so I can de-pressurize the fuel system), added oil (possibly too much).

I jumped the battery, ran it for a good 30-45 minutes, drove it for 10. Took it for a test drive on the freeway, got into 3rd gear and started to hear some rattling. Saw a cloud of white/blue smoke come out and then stop. I thought I blew my engine for sure, but it kept running fine.

Went to the next exit and it seemed to idle normally. I have noticed since the engine first started lacking power, that the oil light comes on when I'm stopped.

I'm thinking one or more things may be wrong. First thing that comes to mind is my timing. At a stand still, the truck sounds normal, but when driving seems to again, lack power. I'm also wondering if my fuel pump is bad/filter dirty.

What really freaks me out is the oil issue and the cloud of smoke, which dissapated (along with the rattling sound). When I went back home, I turned the truck off and tried to start it up again, but no luck. I've already changed the alternator, so I'm wondering if that cheap ass battery I bought from AutoZone is a dud!?!

Sorry for the long post, but any words of advice (including sell that mofo) would be appreciated. Also if you know any decent mechanics in the Atlanta area, that would be helpful too!

Thanks, Mike

Re: Help!

first off, you don't have to worry about depressurizing the fuel pump to change the fuel filter. I changed mine without doing it with no problems.
