Re: H brace or strut bar on CIVIC 00 HELP!!!

There is no lower strut bars, they are tie bars tieing the lower control arms together at a weak point of the frame.

H-braces are far better and provide more clearance.

If your trying to improve the handling a rear sway bar upgrade will do more than all those braces(upper strut, lower tie, & H-brace) Then again they serve 2 different purposes. Sways control body roll and the braces provide stiffening to a weak frame.

H-brace without a doubt. I have one on my EJ6 Civic, and it made a world of differance. Instead of just tying the lower subframe points like a typical lower tiebar does, it ties those 2 points ALONG with 2 additional points on the actual chassis of the car.

As for clearance, an H-brace actually decreases clearance since I never have seen a lower tiebar that hangs as low as an H-brace. Mine hangs pretty low as you can see here, but so does anyone's that has an H-brace (my Civic is at about a "2 drop). I've never had an issue with the clearance yet though, except on 2 occasions, and those were my own fault. One time was on a local mountain road, I tried straddling over a rock that was kinda tall (about "5-"6 I'd say) and I misjudged how tall it really was. Cleared my CTR front lip, but hit the hell outta the H-brace putting a dent in it, but that was it. Sure jarred the chassis and the car real good though. Over all especially for it's price, it's one of the better investments I've made for my car as far as handling goes.

Re: H brace or strut bar on CIVIC 00 HELP!!!

Is there something similar to an h-brace for the rear suspension assembly?

You don't really need an "H" brace in the back since there is little weight. neuspeed used to make an upper strut brace that connected into a lower tie bar, not sure if it's still available.
