98 Contour GL possible transmission problem

I have a 98 Contour GL atx, recently i had fixed the transmission, it was 2 months ago, but now i can feel as if it's going to break again. The simptoms are:

- When first star the car the 1st gear stays for a long time and i can hear a weird noise, then when finally gets to the 2nd gear, sometimes it feels like it jumps or something.

- While in first gear i press the gas pedal and it won't respond as i wish, it will accelerate too slow, but when it goes to 2nd gear i get a better response.

What could be the problem? is it the transmission again?
