95 grand am make no noise on start up

I have a 1995 grand am with 112,000 mile on it. Recently i have had a little trouble getting her started. when i trun the key all of the dash lights come on and but the engine make NO noise at all. For a while if i took the car out of park and then put it back in she would start up but that has stopped working. I am really at my wits end with the car so any information i can get about this would be helpful. thanks in advance.

Does the car start in Neutral? and do you have a alarm?

thanks for your response... no the car wont start at all now. and no alarm either. got any clue?

Sounds like the starter solenoid is shot. I suggest replacing the starter.

thanks i'll ty that. one of the guys that i work with said something about the car not thinking it was in park and thats why it wouldnt start but did know anything else. thanks for your help.

Well it could have been the linkage but thats why I asked if it starts in Neutral. If it isn't starting in neutral. I doubt its the linkage unless you have a hard time getting the car into gear. Like when you put it into drive does the shifter sit funny?

not that i have noticed. a few weeks before it started i was going about 55 mps and it kinda felt like the transmission was slipping. (the rpms were going put and down and you could hear the engine revving up) but that only happened one time.
