95' Sunfire Help

I have two questions and if anyone could help id really appreciate it.

1) Im changing the transmission fluid in my car and does anyone know of a good fluid to use to help it last longer and possibly help restore some of the warn parts?

2) My car is a 95' and im going to need to drive it a 1,000 miles soon and the last thing i want to happen is for it to die on the highway on me. I have a rebuilt cylinder head on it and a new timing chain, other than that its all original parts as far as i know. Does anyone know of anything i could to to insure it makes the trip with no problem?

-Thanks!

Re: 95' Sunfire Help

Any fluid that matches the manufacturers recommendations is always you best bet. Lucas oil has a fluid additive that is supposed to restore warn parts. I have heard good things about it but have never used it. Check with your local parts store. As for other problems, that is a loaded question. Anything could fail but I would make sure you change the oil or have recently done so. Take an extra quart with you just in case. I would change the serpentine belt if it is original just to reduce the potential of it breaking. Make sure you coolant system is in good shape but if you just changed the head you should be OK. A new air filter will help with fuel mileage. Check the tire pressure to make sure all the tires are up to proper pressure and you should be good to go on your trip. Good Luck!
