Another idle issue thread 1991 Sport 4.0

Having an idle issue with my jeep, I've searched through a lot of the threads but I can't seem to really figure out a consensus on the problem...

My idle has been a little high on startup recently, but the jeep is running ok in general otherwise. The usual problem here with everyone trying to tap the throttle or restart the engine is what i've been doing. The other day, I starting getting a stall with stopped at the light intermittently. Last night, I got in to drive and the check engine light came on, and i could't get over about 25mph. It was running rough, so I parked it for the night. This morning the same thing, although I almost made it all the way to work before the problem started again (about 3 miles) driving distance.

so I did the ignition key check for the trouble codes. I got back:

14 - MAP sensor above/below acceptable voltage and;

24 - Throttle postion sensor above/below acceptable voltage

Most of the threads I looked through here mentioned either cleaning the tps, adjusting it, or replacing it. I'm not sure what to do about this, anyone have any ideas????

Any help appreciated! Thanks

Phil

one faulty part could make the computer throw other codes, i'm thinking the tps, did you do a test on it, do you have a multi-meter and know how to use it?

Re: Re: Another idle issue thread 1991 Sport 4.0

I was thinking that the other code for map might be a side effect of the tps code myself...I haven't tried the volt meter thing yet, I'm still at work. That may be the only way to tell, but I was hoping to kinda get a suggestion if tps or not, cause I wanted to get the part if necessary today before we go into the weekend and then I'd have to wait till monday. I may have to wait though and do the voltage test, but I was thinking since it was giving the code for tps in the diagnostic codes that might mean the tps was in fact corrupt. I've had map problems before on another jeep and these current problems don't resemble other map problems
