Angry No Power

My recently acquired 1988 Golf GL has some power problems. It just idles down and dies, but starts right back up and if I stay on the gas it'll keep running but real rough. Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: No Power

I'd start with cleaning the idle stabilizer valve & air flow meter plate.

Re: No Power

Thanks for the help boschmann, I did what you said and replaced the fuel filter just in case and it's running much better.
