ugh... can it be saved?

ok got a 95 prix 3.1L. my question is what is the problem(s) with the tranny. and should i bother fixing it or get a rebuilt or junk yard special . ok in D it will start off in 3rd gear and won't go into 4th when it should/at all. in 3 it will start in 3rd gear. in 2 it will start in 2nd gear. in 1 it will start in 2nd gear. second gear start (sgs) ain't the prob cuz it won't go into 4th gear and it doesn't drop to 1st when i floor it. i got this car as a loaner for a winter beater cuz my 03 Mach1 stang doesn't do so well in the snow, lmao. it has 130,xxx miles on it and had a transflush at 125,xxx miles or so. when i looked at it the trans dipstick, it said it was 2 quarts low. i know A/T's can leak internaly but how could it leak this much. because the time that i have had it, there were no signs of leakage. where did my fluid go? would the trans flush have caused this? the trans is also making a slight very odd squeeling sound, its a inconsistent on and off squeel/whine. so i put fluid in it and can get it to drive normaly (cold start) untill it gets really warm or the car is turned off then restarted. fyi, squeel thing is still there after i put the fluid in it. before it started taking a crap every once and a while i could smell a burnt oil/smoked clutch (manual) smell. but that might of been another problem that was already addressed. any info, opinions would be great
Thanx
MM

Sounds like the vaccum modulator has gone bad and is sucking the tranny fluid back into the engine. These transmissions also have a reuseable metal neoprene gasket that I have seen leak. It sounds like you have already burned the clutch packs by running low on fluid. If it is slipping than you need another transmission.
