Angry ...Horn beeps while turning...

I have a 95 Windstar, we bought this van used with the horn not working, however, the former owners had installed a button below the steering wheel that you could press for the horn. The problem is that whenever I make a sharp turn to the left or right, the horn will go off all by itself! Has anyone experienced this problem or know how to help? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In the steering column near the steering wheel is what is know as the clockspring. It allows the wires to the horn to have electrical conductivity regardless of the position of the steering wheel. It sounds like there is trouble with yours. This is where I would look first.

Sounds like the previous owner had a workaround for ensuring he could always use the horn if required but nothing for the self-tooting.

Thank you for your reply. Will it affect the airbag? Is it safe to take the steering column apart without activating the airbag?
