hummming noise
i just noticed a few weeks ago, as i'm driving down the road, i hear this humming noise! I notice it anywhere from 20 MPH on up! But under that, i can't hear it! It only does it when the car is in motion, which the tires are moving! Any help, i've been told it could be a few things, either wheel bearing or cv joints? But there is no other noises, no vibrations, well if any, it is just a slight tingling vibration, everything seems to run good!! Any ideas, if so, could ya tell me where the best place is to get the cv joints, and what all would i need to replace them! like i look at these websites and they say CV halfshaft and cv joint this and cv joint that, what all would i really need, thanks again.

Re: hummming noise
Sounds like a wheel bearing to me.

Re: hummming noise
I recently replaced both wheel bearing/hub assemblies on my 95. It was the same scenario, humming from about 20 mph on up. Does it go away if you turn the wheel slightly one way or the other? That is another indication of a bad wheel bearing.

humming noise
yeah, when i turn my wheel to the left, the humming goes away, but when i turn to the right, it doesn't? I'm pretty sure it's the left front wheel bearing, but does anyone know for sure, which one it is by telling when the humming goes away according to which way i turn the wheel? and also, does anyone know if you need any special tools to replace the wheel bearings? If so,could u please let me know!! Thanks

humming noise
Thanks everyone for all your help! It was my wheel bearing! And it was the left front, just like i thought!! And just for anyone who is wondering about it, I saved $250 by changing it myself! I have a 2001, and i'm not mechanic, but i was actually able to do it on my own. With a little frustration and a few cuts and bruises, i managed to get the darn thing done in only an hour and a half!! So for any of you who are wondering how hard it is to change, u can definately do it your self, just make sure you have a metric socket set, with a few different size extension pieces and a little bit of jockeying the wheel left and right, it can be done!! If anyone needs any help on this, just post, and i'll give ya what i found out from doing mine!! Thanks again for all the help, it was really appreciated!!
