GM Tech 2 Question?

I am wondering if anyone out there can answer a question for me about the GM Tech 2 scanner. I want to install a radio deck and xm tuner box from a 2003 LeSabre into my 2000 LeSabre. Once I perform the installation and get everything wired up, the shop manual says I need to use the GM Tech 2 to perform a radio calibration on the radio deck and then also a calibration to setup the XM tuner box. When you plug a Tech 2 into a given car, is it possible to select the wrong car on the menu. In other words, the XM radio calibration will only reside in the Tech 2 for the 2003 LeSabre, but I will be plugging the Tech 2 into my 2000 LeSabre, can I select 2003 LeSabre on the menu in order to access the XM tuner calibration?

Yes you can.

Its like that when we need to do a Case learn on a reprogramed PCM for the W-Body cars 98/02.We have to enter in a 98 for say a 2001 to get it to program.

Oh thanks a lot for the response, yeah it makes sense, I mean otherwise there wouldn't be much point in allowing the technician to select vehicle and model year info in the first place. From everything I've read about class 2 and the J1850 networking protocol, I should be able to simply splice the class 2 wire from the XM tuner box into my class 2 network. I mean my logic is that it shouldn't bother anything, really the only device listening to the xm tuner messages should be the 2003 radio deck, and the state of health message should be passively recognized by the other modules. My service information says that you can not re-program VIN information in used XM tuner modules, but they seem to sell like hot cakes on ebay. I am assuming that the calibration will take care of that and un-lock the used XM module, if not I guess I will have to buy a brand new one. I really can't imagine GM making a module that can't be re-calibrated, electrical shock or short circuits can cause these things to lose their memory, you probably would know better than I though maybe that doesn't happen as often as I would imagine.
