side panel falling off

'97 Jetta GLS - So the side panel strip (whatever you want to call it) is slowly falling off. It started coming lose toward the front of the door and is getting worse - any ideas how I can remedy this. I live in MN so the salt and snow are pretty rough on it.

3M body trim adhesive tape, avalable at body shops &, I've been told, Wal-Mart.
