fuse box...?

i was looking through my manual, trying to find which fuse might have gone out so that my dome light doesn't work... when i realized that my car doesn't have the passenger compartment fuse box! i know my car has had some custom work done on before i got it, and i was just wondering what would possess someone to remove a fuse box and transfer all electricl distribution to the fuse box in the engine compartment. wouldn't you think that that is kind of something that's an important thing to have?! it still has the compartment, but instead of fuses it's filled with wires that run my guages(the switch for the guage backlight is on the fuse box cover). anyone know anything about things like this? fuse boxes can't just disappear without affecting anything, right? my car has no electrical problems besides the dome light(found out it was the bulb, which didn't look burnt, i just wanted to make sure it wasn't a fuse before i went and bought a bulb) and the high beams don't work(that's got something to do with the wiring, i'm pretty sure because they aren't stock headlights, and whoever put them in didn't ground them very well either).

Re: fuse box...?

I'm not totally familiar with custom audio and all that, but I would take it back and demand to know why it was moved...I've never heard of a fuse box being moved...so there's two fuse boxes in the engine compartment now? Weird.

there's only one fuse box in the engine compartment. none in the passenger compartment.

Re: fuse box...?

I would take it back and ask what they did, unless someone on here has any idea.
