Exclamation 2002 dodge caravan EC

Hi, I have 2002 dodge caravan ec. These are the problems that I had with this van. At about 60,000 miles transmission died and about that time had fuel hose leak, fuel injector clogged up and now at about 80,000 miles van kicks at around 50 mph. Also its starting to eat oil. Anybody knows why the van kicks and is there anybody with similar problem.

sorry to sound like an idiot, but exactly do you mean by it "kicks"?

Solution: One I wish I had used!! Get rid of it if you can and find another manufacturer. Lots of research into possible problems BEFORE you buy. I never want another Dodge. My Caravan has been thru 7 trannys.

That is sound advice and I'm in the same situation. I have the base model Voyager with only 38k miles. Problem is, take a look at the trade in value...every time I see it I feel like crying. I think the trade on my 02 is about 6,000. Private sale maybe 8 or 9. But I couldn't sell private with a clear conscience. Not to mention I owe 11. Only 3 more years of suffering and I'll be driving a Toyota. I've always frowned upon people that say this, but I've never heard of anyone driving a Toyota or Honda or even a Nissan that had to shell out thousands of dollars before they hit 100k.

Re: 2002 dodge caravan EC

The best piece of advice that I want to give anyone looking for a new vehicle, do your research into that vehicle as to what the highs and lows are, i.e., cost of repair, reliability factor, resale value, known trouble spots, etc. Toyota is a damn good company, but recently, they have had a batch of engine failures due to sludging in the engines and not receiving compensation from the manufacturer. GM is undergoing a lawsuit for their Dex-Cool causing engine failures. Ford continues to be plagued by fire issues in their Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable platform. My point is, no manufacturer is perfect, just make sure you know what you're getting into and can afford the repairs as they come along.
