Question 93 Olds Cutlass Supreme trans trouble

I have a 93 Olds Cutlass Supreme with an automatic transmition that wont go into gear/all gears act as neutral. Transmition fluid is full and looks good. If anyone knows what this could be please tell me. Thanks

Were there any symptoms prior to this problem? Could be a number of things - from cable adjustment to valve body problems.

How many miles has the tranny logged?

There is a good chance that you have a bad tranny. My 95 cutlass has that same problem. The only thing to do is get it rebuilt...or install a new/used tranny.

Make sure the fluid is not burt up and you might try putting in a new filter.

I had a Taurus that had the cv joints break. It acted like it was in neutral.

I also had a Lincoln that had a bad tranny. The wheels would spin in gear if they were jacked up off the ground. This is not a good thing to do, but I did it anyway. Be very careful if you try that. Once the wheels were back on the ground, the tranny didn't have enough power to pull the car. The tranny was shot.

Re: 93 Olds Cutlass Supreme trans trouble

Automatic transmission: 4T60E transmissions may drop out of drive while cruising, shift erratically, have no third or fourth gear, or no second and third gear because of a bad ground connection for the shift solenoids. (1991-94)

Re: 93 Olds Cutlass Supreme trans trouble

try your shift linkage or shift pin, the linkage could have come lose and cause the transmission to not go into gear when you put the shifter in gear. my friend had a problem with his mercury that the nut came off and it would run to redline, maybe the actual cable came out of place, it should be on the transmission probably on the back of it, just follow the cords that go behind the firewall somewhere in the center. thats all i can think of unless your tranny is shot, but at 67000 miles, it shouldnt be unless you were really hard on it.
