Transmittion problem

When you drive the truck at highway speed and then come to a stop and pull out again, it will shift very hard into second gear and then third is not as hard, but still jerks into gear. If you pull over and turn the engine off, restart and pull out, it will clean the problem until you drive for awhile again or go to highway speed and stop again. It also seems to go away for the most part in the wintertime, (when it is cold out, in the 30's or colder)
Anyone know what the problem could be and what I am looking at repair wise?
Thanks

I know this is an older posting but have you found the problem? I am just curious.

Get your transmission serviced with a complete flush and refill and a new transmission filter.
