Disable a 90SSE alarm?

The alarm goes off about half of the time I close the door. I would love to disable it- any ideas?

Re: Disable a 90SSE alarm?

Are you saying the at the alarm triggers as you are closing the door? Under normal operation, the factory alarm is armed by pressing the power lock button with a door open. It then takes 30 seconds after closing the door for the system to become fully armed. If a "forced entry" occurs during the 30 second period, the alarm will not trigger.

If it is triggers after the 30 second period, for seemingly no reason, I'd first suspect a faulty trigger input. There are switches in each door, one in the trunk and one under the hood. I'll have to look at a wiring diagram to tell if the switches are the same ones as the dome light or DIC switches. Sometimes finding which one is at fault can be difficult to track down as all the input wires connect before they get to the alarm module.

Re: Disable a 90SSE alarm?

The alarm actually goes off immediately after closing the door, or occasionly when the manaul lock is pushed down, with the door open. The only way to stop it seems to be to close the door (if it's open), and to unlock and relock with the key. (The remote entry dosn't work either- I read the thread on that, and will try those suggestions). I have yet to figure out if there is a definite pattern to setting it off- it seems to go off at random intervals.

Man, that's strange... The horn honks and the lights flash and all?

Just for the heck of it, you may want to start by removing the power lock trim on the door (woodgrain piece). You can then take a quick look behind there for a pinched wire making contact with the metal behind the door panel. By mentioning that it sometimes triggers when you manually lock the door makes me think that there is a problem behind there.

I really can't see how the alarm would trigger if it hasn't even had a chance to arm.
